How to look after your skin in Summer

Healthy Summer Skin During winter I started to think about how  I would be able to  ensure a healthy skin healthy for summer (them beach days). I want to feel confident that I am protecting my skin because it dries out badly during winter and I did not want to start summer like that, as dry skin burns and damages more quickly than moisturised skin. I started moisturising my skin 2 weeks before Israel so I was able to test how to optimise my tan (make it last longer naturally) and make sure I did not burn/ peel. While in Israel throughout all our walking/ beach visits and car rides I only burnt once on my chest area around my black bikini - unsure how to help that? My husband burnt - this is how I saw that what I was doing was working. Here are some of the products that I used and how I found them and how they helped me: Ylang Ylang Body Oil from Naturals Beauty

I used Ylang Ylang (sourced from Flowers: Cananga odorata - a plant native to the Philippines and Indonesia) #NaturalsBeauty Body Oil on my skin two weeks before I left for Israel in preparation in making sure that my skin would be  in the best condition for their sun. This oil has so many healing properties and that’s what summer personally wants for your skin (Yes, I know summer - we speak often). I tested out it’s healing properties on around my bikini top area where I burnt. I placed this oil on half of my chest (leaving the other half with my normal cream) and after one use of three drops, the redness and sting went away. The other side stayed burning for 3 days, eventually, I got over the cause and placed the oil on my chest and the next day my skin was back to normal. Some properties that Ylang Ylang oil has,

  • Antiseptic

  • Anti-inflammatory

  • Sedative

  • Hydrates and maintains the oil balance of the Skin

Vaseline Firming Cream with Collagen

Love this brand and how it makes my skin feel. I have been a fan of this #Vaseline (for years) during summertime. I place in on my skin each day after a day in the sun and I never peel and even if I see I am about to peel I place the cream on 3 times a day (as much as I can) and then I don’t peel. I wouldn’t carry on placing cream on my skin excessively, remember you still want to produce your body oils. Cetaphil Sunblock SPF 30

#Cetaphil sunblock is a hypoallergenic, sweat/water resistant, fragrance/paragon free and suitable for sensitive skin. It also has Liposomal, a fatty accent that helps your skin absorb better. I did not burn and I found that it worked well, I would get the SPF 15 next time and come back with more of a tan. Hydrating your skin in the inside

Something we often forget to do, but it not only detoxes but allows your body to sweat without dehydrating yourself. I drank so much water while on the beach and did not come home feeling tired and ‘blah’. Sweating on the beach is good for your skin but dehydrating your body and skin will increase the burning of your skin and make you feel lethargic. I am also for food that hydrates you, here are some of my favourites:

  • Watermelon

  • cucumber tomatoes

  • pineapple

  • apples

Avene Hydratant Mask

During winter my skin was so sensitive and sore, nothing was working until Sincerely Blond suggested the #Avene hydration face mask for me. It has been a game-changer and cleared up my blind pimples / re-active skin. So crazy, I found out from the two weeks of using it daily, that my skin was not breaking out because it was dry. I found that my normal products just were not working and I knew my skin needed something else, so thank you, Rachel! What I mean by a reactive skin, is when your skin just reacts to any / everything you do. When this happens you should probably stop doing everything you are doing and start over with some new or fewer products. Read my other blog post for how I healed my skin naturally from acne.

To end this post off, the only place my skin burnt was around my black bikini top area, other than that the above principles/ products work well for me and I will be continuing this method until I find another principle to explore. Hope this helps you out with summer, I love my skin and want to look after it for as long as I can, if you liked this post and craving another read, here is my other blog post about how my acne healed naturally. Your friend,

Kris
